About American Justice Watch

American Justice Watch is a citizen-led coalition committed to protecting the integrity, independence, and fairness of America’s courts.

We believe every person deserves access to a justice system that applies the law fairly, protects civil rights, and remains accountable to the public. Courts should serve the Constitution and the people, not political operatives, wealthy donors, corporations, or special-interest groups.

“In too many states, judicial elections are becoming political prizefights where partisans and special interests seek to install judges who will answer to them instead of the law and the constitution.” — Former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor in 2007, quoted in   – Impartial Justice

A Citizen Coalition for Fair and Accountable Courts

We are a citizen-led coalition of individuals who believe in the American system of justice and in holding corporate special interests that try to corrupt it accountable.

Our work focuses on increasing public awareness of the forces that can shape judicial elections, court decisions, and access to justice. By examining political spending, corporate influence, judicial accountability, and threats to impartial courts, we help citizens better understand what is happening within the American justice system and why it matters.

Defending Justice From Corporate and Political Influence

An independent judiciary is essential to a functioning democracy. Judges must be able to evaluate cases according to the law and the facts, without pressure from campaign contributors, partisan organizations, or powerful corporate interests.

American Justice Watch supports greater transparency and accountability throughout the justice system. We call attention to efforts that may weaken judicial independence, restrict access to the courts, undermine civil rights, or place private interests ahead of equal justice.

Our goal is not to dictate the outcome of individual cases. Our goal is to help protect a legal system in which every person receives a fair hearing and no individual or organization is placed above the law.

Fair courts protect every right we hold.

We work to protect fair courts, civil rights, and equal access to justice for every American.

Fair Courts Don't Fund Themselves

Your support keeps judicial selection accountable to people, not special interests.
